The gift

I was suddenly reminded of my father today.

My mother and I thought that he had not paid alimony for many years (he is from another country and we haven`t contact with him).

My mom worked herself, and when I was 16, we decided to find out why the payments hadn’t come in for years. He is alive and working at the city clinic, that we knew from his relatives.

It turned out that his alimony did not find us, because we moved a lot. And it turned out to withdraw the amount for several years at once.

My mother asked: “what gift would change your life for the better?”

I said then: a DSLR, of course! The photo camera!
Photography was and is my main hobby. The camera, by the way, was my source of income for many years afterwards.

It’s in need of repair now, but it can be fixed.

And the photos I took with it can be seen at the link.

What a moving story--a realization that your dad still cared in some way, and an unexpected grand gesture of love from your mom--a gift that is an accessory to your profession and identity. So fitting for this time of year. May Life bring you all good gifts, Anka.
